COACHES 2013 Spring Summer
Dub Kilgo 17u/18u (Co-President and Director of Player Development)
Dub is a former coach for McLennan College (National Champions), Arizona State, and the Brewers. Dub has over 30 years of experience in player development. Dub has coached at every level from select to the professional ranks, and has direct input with every team in the BLBA organization. Dub has 4 National Championships as a BLBA head coach.
Sandy Shofner 13u/16 (2013 Spring Summer) (Co-President and Management Director)
Sandy is a former High School coach, former state director for Perfect Game and an associate scout with the New York Yankees. Sandy has been with the BLBA since its inception. He has captured 5 National Championships and 6 State Championships as a Head coach with the BLBA.
Caleb Shofner 15/16 (2013 Spring Summer)
Caleb is a former Texas A&M college player. Caleb was a career .337 hitter with the Aggies. Caleb was selected as tournament MVP at the Baylor Classic and placed on the All -Tournament team at the NCAA TCU regional. Caleb was selected as BIG Twelve player of the week and also won the Prestigious Walley Moon award at Texas A&M. Caleb has spent the last year as a roving hitting instructor for the College Station 12. Caleb's pro baseball career was cut short due to a foot injury. Caleb is currently an assistant coach at Hill College. Caleb has been with the BLBA for 4 years as a head coach and roving instructor.
Mathew Scott 12u (2013 Spring Summer)
Matthew is a former MCC and McMurray college player. Matthew has spent the last five years as a head coach and assistant with the BLBA. Matthew has been part of two National Championship teams.
Alberto Lopez 12u (2013 Spring Summer) (Organization Vice President)
Alberto is a former Texas Aggie and University of Houston college player. Alberto has been with the BLBA family for 5 years and has a National Championship and a Runner up to show for his efforts. Alberto had an outstanding 4 year catching career in college. Alberto was also the former assistant coach at Valley Mills HS.
Brent Helton 10u (2013 Spring Summer)
Brent was a former standout at La Vega High School. Brent has coached baseball for the last ten years and has managed select baseball for the last five. Brent has excellent baseball knowledge and will be a tremendous asset the BLBA family. Brent has been with the BLBA as a Head coach for 3 years. Brents 13u team finished runner up in this years Super Series World Series.
Nick Santos 14u (2013 Spring Summer)
Nick Santos is a former Dallas Baptist University Patriot Baseball player where he led the team to the first NCAA Division I Regional in school history, leading his team with a .390 batting average. With this average, Nick is currently ranked 3rdall time at DBU. At DBU, Nick was an All-American Independent selection and ranked one of the toughest to strike out in Division I. After his tenure for Dallas Baptist, he played Independent Professional baseball for the Rockford Riverhawks in the Frontier League. Nick has a passion for coaching and developing athletes and interned for DBU’s baseball team as their Strength and Conditioning coach, where he also worked with their hitters and position players. Out of High School, Nick was heavily recruited for pitching and a strong bat. He played two seasons with Cisco College where he was an All-American and is currently ranked 1st in All-Time with a .479 batting average. Nick was also a 5-A All-State Selection at Grand Prairie High School. Also, Nick has played in multiple prestigious collegiate summer leagues, including the Northwoods League and Texas Collegiate League. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and a Master of Education-Kinesiology. He is the owner of Diamond Athletics Dance Baseball & Softball with his wife, Kelli. This will be Nick's 3rd year with the BLBA.
Scott Beheler 11u (2013 Spring Summer)
Scott Beheler played High school ball at Connally HS. He pitched and played outfield. Scott received a scholarship to Hill Jr College as a pitcher but it was cut short due to a arm injury. Scott also played 2 years in a Dallas Semi Pro league for the Dallas Braves. Scott was invited to 2 try out camps by the Pittsburgh Pirates and a 1 day try out camp by the National League Drafting Bureau. Scott has been coaching for the last 10 years in all age groups from 8 – 16. Scott is in his third year with the BLBA as a head coach.
